Mission Statement

Bay Area Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (BAYPAA), is a unified committee whose membership is open to young people (and to those who are young at heart) from all over Northern California. BAYPAA was formed in 2008 with the goal of bidding for and ultimately hosting the International Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (ICYPAA). Our primary purpose is to carry the AA message and to foster an atmosphere of unity, cooperation, respect and support among Northern California Young People's groups. We do this through the ICYPAA bid process, by organizing large-scale events for the YPAA groups in Northern California, and by providing a central website with informtion about young people's committees, meetings and events. Our committee service work focuses on introducing newcomers to sobriety, helping young people have fun in AA, supporting small, new, and/or struggling Northern California YPAA groups, and educating young people about the AA service structure and opportunities for service. Our long term goal is to serve as a resource to all YPAA groups in Northern California in their efforts to carry the message of recovery to the alcoholic who still suffers.
